Terms of use
The rules for using the app, and what happens to your posts and your account.
About these terms
Last updated 29 September 2026.
Welcome to Blink. These terms are an agreement between you and Blink (“we” or “us”). They cover the Blink app, the Blink website and everything you do through them, which we call the service.
By creating an account or using the service in any way, including from a web browser without an account, you agree to these terms and to our privacy policy. If you don’t agree, please don’t use Blink.
Blink is new and will keep changing. Features may be added, changed or removed at any time.
Who can use it
You must be 18 or older to use Blink. If we learn that an account belongs to someone under 18, we’ll close it.
You can’t use Blink if we’ve banned you before, if you’re a convicted sex offender, or if you aren’t allowed to enter into an agreement like this where you live.
Keep your sign-in details safe, because you’re responsible for what happens on your account. If you think someone else has access to it, email hello@sayblink.app.
Masks
When you post masked, other people see a mask instead of your profile, and a new mask is dealt for each post. In a live room you keep the same mask for the whole room. You can also post as yourself.
A mask hides you from other users, not from Blink. Your account is linked to everything you post, we keep that link, and reports are handled against the account behind the mask. If you break the rules, your account is what gets restricted or banned.
We don’t reveal who is behind a mask to other users. Don’t try to work it out yourself, and don’t help anyone else do it.
A mask can’t protect you from what you write. If you include your own name, face or other details in a post, other people will see them.
Your content
You own the content you post. We don’t claim ownership of it.
To provide and promote the service, you give us a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free, transferable and sublicensable licence to use, host, store, copy, modify, adapt, publish, display, distribute and create derivative works of your content, including any name, image, likeness or voice in it, in any media. This lets us do things like show your posts in the app and on share pages, deliver notifications, make story cards and share links, keep copies for moderation and legal reasons, and feature posts on our own social channels, website, store listings and ads. When we feature a masked post, it stays masked. When we feature a post you made as yourself, it may show your username and profile picture.
The licence ends when you delete your content or your account, except for copies we’re required or allowed to keep, content we’ve already published or used, and copies other people made while it was up. We don’t sell your content.
You’re responsible for your content and for making sure you have the right to post it. We don’t review all content before it’s posted, and we aren’t responsible for what other people post. You may come across content you find offensive. You can hide it, block the person or report it.
Anything you post to the feed or a room can be seen, saved and shared by other people, including outside Blink.
Posts leave the feed after 24 hours, but they aren’t deleted. They stay in your archive until you delete them. Content that has been reported may be kept while we look into it.
We can remove or restrict any content at any time, for any reason, without notice, and we aren’t obliged to store or return content. Keep your own copies of anything important.
Some accounts and posts on Blink are run by Blink itself to keep the feed active while the app is new. They don’t interact with your content.
If you send us feedback or ideas, we can use them without any obligation to you.
Rules
There is no tolerance for objectionable content or abusive users on Blink. Our community guidelines explain what’s allowed, and we can restrict, suspend or ban accounts that break them, with or without warning. In short, don’t:
1. Post anything illegal, or use Blink to do something illegal.
2. Post sexual content involving minors, in any form, or intimate images of anyone without their consent.
3. Threaten, harass or bully anyone, or encourage anyone to hurt themselves or others.
4. Attack people based on race, ethnicity, national origin, religion, caste, sex, gender identity, sexual orientation, disability or illness.
5. Post private information about a real person, or try to identify who is behind a mask.
6. Impersonate anyone, spam, scam, or sell anything the law restricts.
7. Post content you don’t have the right to share.
8. Scrape the service, use bots or automated accounts, get around a block, ban or restriction, or interfere with the service or its security.
Report and Block are available on every post, comment, profile, message and room.
Enforcement
We use automated systems and human review to moderate content, and how we do that may change over time. Content may be filtered, held, or removed, and accounts may be restricted, suspended or banned.
We review reports, including reports about posts that have already expired, and the person you report isn’t told who reported them. Serious reports, such as anything involving child safety or a threat to someone’s life, may be passed to the authorities.
If we take action on your account, you’ll see a notice in the app under Settings, Account status, with the reason and an option to appeal. If you can’t sign in, email appeals@sayblink.app.
We may share information about an account, including who is behind a mask, with law enforcement or other authorities when the law requires it, when we receive a valid legal request, when a legal claim arises from something posted, or when we believe someone is in danger.
Copyright
If you believe content on Blink infringes your copyright, email safety@sayblink.app with the details the DMCA requires: the work you say is infringed, where the content is on Blink, your contact information, a statement that you believe in good faith the use isn’t authorised, a statement under penalty of perjury that your notice is accurate and that you’re the owner or authorised to act for them, and your signature. We remove content in response to valid notices, handle counter-notices the same way, and close the accounts of repeat infringers.
The same address takes complaints about trademarks, privacy and other rights.
Intimate images
If an intimate image of you, real or fake, is on Blink without your consent, email safety@sayblink.app with a link or a description of where it is and a statement that you’re the person in it or are acting for them. You don’t need an account. We remove the image, and any identical copies we can find, within the 48 hours US law allows, and we block it from being uploaded again.
Your account
You can delete your account at any time from Settings, and you can download a copy of your data from the same screen. When you delete your account, your content is removed from the app right away and erased from our systems within 90 days, except for records we have to keep for moderation or legal reasons. The privacy policy has more.
If your account is permanently banned, you can’t delete it until the ban is lifted, because deleting it would free up your email address to create a new account. You can appeal a ban.
We can suspend, restrict or close your account, or stop providing the service, at any time and for any reason, with or without notice. If we close your account for breaking the rules, you can’t create a new one.
Sections that by their nature should survive the end of your account, such as the licence for content we keep, the disclaimers, the limits on liability, indemnity and disputes, continue to apply.
The app
We give you a limited, personal, non-transferable, revocable licence to install and use the Blink app on a device you own or control, for personal, non-commercial use. The app, its design, its name and its code belong to us. Don’t copy, modify, sell, reverse engineer or try to extract the source code of the app, except where the law allows. The app may update itself, and some updates may be required to keep using it.
Apple and Google aren’t parties to these terms and aren’t responsible for the app or its content. Their own terms apply to your use of their platforms.
Disclaimers
Blink is provided “as is” and “as available”, without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose and non-infringement, to the fullest extent permitted by law. We don’t promise that the service will be uninterrupted, secure or error-free, that content will be accurate, or that content will be kept. You use Blink at your own risk.
We don’t screen users or run background checks. You’re responsible for your interactions with other people, on and off Blink, and we aren’t responsible for anyone’s conduct.
Limits on liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, Blink, its owner, and anyone who works on or with Blink are not liable to you for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, exemplary or punitive damages, or for any loss of data, profits, goodwill or reputation, arising from the service, from content posted by users, or from anyone’s conduct, even if we’ve been advised of the possibility. Our total liability for all claims relating to the service is limited to the greater of the amount you paid us in the past twelve months and one hundred US dollars. Nothing in these terms limits liability that can’t be limited by law.
Indemnity
If anyone brings a claim against Blink, its owner, or anyone who works on or with Blink because of your content, your use of the service, or your breach of these terms, the law or anyone’s rights, you agree to defend and indemnify us and to pay any resulting damages, costs and reasonable legal fees, to the extent the law allows.
Disputes
If you have a problem, email hello@sayblink.app and we’ll try to work it out with you. You agree to try to resolve any dispute with us informally before starting a legal claim, and we agree to do the same.
To the extent the law allows, any claim against us may only be brought individually and not as part of a class or representative action, and must be started within one year of when it arose.
Changes
We may update these terms from time to time. If a change materially affects your rights, we’ll let you know in the app or by email before it takes effect. Continuing to use Blink after that means you accept the updated terms.
General
These terms and the privacy policy are the entire agreement between you and us. If any part is unenforceable, the rest still applies. If we don’t enforce a part of these terms, that isn’t a waiver. You can’t transfer your rights under these terms; we can transfer ours to someone who takes over the service. Links in posts lead outside Blink, and we aren’t responsible for other sites or services.
